Not sure what CBD does and how it works with your body? We’re here to show you why CBD should be part of your wellness toolkit.

What is CBD?

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of over 80 organic phytocannabinoids (naturally produced CBD plant compounds) present in and derived from hemp, a plant belonging to the genus Cannabis sativa. There are multiple forms of CBD including broad-spectrum, isolate, and full-spectrum.

Broad-spectrum CBD is just one of the three forms that CBD can be extracted as. Broad-spectrum CBD products are full of flavonoids, terpenes, fatty acids, and cannabinoids like cannabinol, cannabichromene, and cannabigerol. But most importantly, it does not contain even a small amount of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.

Isolate CBD is the purest form of CBD, with no other phytocannabinoids or plant compounds at all. Neither isolate or broad-spectrum products can be detected on a drug screening.

Full-spectrum CBD products include all phytocannabinoids and beneficial plant compounds, including trace amounts of THC, though at less than the federal limit of 0.3% (which is not nearly enough to cause psychoactive effects). However, full spectrum CBD oil and other full-spectrum products may show up on a drug test.

CBD and THC are two separate things. They may come from the same plant, but they are vastly different compounds, and their effects are also substantially different.

Some cannabis plants, known as hemp plants, produce primarily CBD. Others produce primarily THC; these are known as marijuana plants. CBD and THC are actually only two of over 140 different recognized cannabinoids that can be produced from the same cannabis plant, but of all of them, THC is the most well-known for its psychoactive effects.

The Entourage Effect

With broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD, you get something called the Entourage Effect. That’s when the organic components of the hemp plant (like terpenes and other cannabinoids like CBG and CBN) work to amp up CBD’s natural effects for maximum benefit.

How To Use CBD

There are a variety of formats depending on your need, from CBD tinctures that you take sublingually (under your tongue) and convenient chews to products that can be directly applied to the skin for relief such as transdermal patches and topical lotions.

The type of CBD that will suit you best is entirely up to you. Maybe you prefer a plain plant-tasting broad-spectrum CBD oil tincture, or you want a CBD cupcake with flavors like mint, vanilla, or citrus. Everyone’s experience with CBD is personal. We always recommend listening to your body. After all, everyone’s body is different.

Dosages by the Numbers

When you first start your CBD journey, we recommend starting at a slow and steady pace. It’s best to start small and ramp up your dose until you begin to experience the desired effects.

Everyone wants something different from their CBD usage, and depending on your desired results and your body's unique chemistry, you may prefer a lower dosage or a higher one.

Dosages usually differ from person to person, with various body weights needing varying levels to see results, but no matter what size you are, we still recommend starting slow.

While there is no standard daily recommended intake (RDI), we’ve put together a broad guide below as a point of reference.

Keep track using a daily journal so you can reflect on the benefits over time and adjust your dosage accordingly. It’s your body and you know it best.

What Does CBD Do For Your Body?

Whilst everyone’s experience with CBD is personal, many people report positive effects when using CBD, from increasing feelings of relaxation to calming your mood. CBD can help to support a healthy sleep cycle and help ease discomfort to tired or sore muscles

What is the science behind CBD?  Your body has something called the endocannabinoid system, which is what maintains equilibrium in your body. And guess what? CBD works with that system to encourage overall wellbeing by helping to control the contact between your body's cells. If you haven't thought about scientific anatomy since high school, here's a quick overview of the endocannabinoid system.

The ECS is your built-in monitoring tool that helps find balance in your brain and body, even when external forces and behavioral decisions try to knock it out of balance. Endocannabinoids are present all over the body, from the central nervous system, immune system, and mind, to glands, major organs, and connective tissues. They are everywhere.

That means that your body's ECS affects things like:

  • Sleep
  •  Appetite
  • Digestion
  • Metabolism
  • Mood
  • Memory
  • Hormones

Depending on your body's chemistry, broad-spectrum CBD can work with your body when it comes to discomfort, emotional wellness, sleep, and relaxation.

Plus, CBD also has terpenes, beneficial compounds that come from the cannabis plant. For people who want all of the benefits of CBD and its additional organic compounds without dealing with the unwanted psychoactive effects associated with THC, broad-spectrum CBD is the hemp extract for you.

Calm Mind, Calm Body

Some people's minds are all over the place, constantly running around to keep up with the fast pace of daily life. But when you want to relax and put your feet up for a while, CBD can help you find your calm without the brain fog.

You can quiet your mind and stay focused on the present instead of thinking about a thousand other things.

At Healist, our Calm Discovery Drops are made with the highest quality, U.S. sustainably-grown broad spectrum CBD, and mixed with active levels of organic orange essential oil and a custom-made relaxing terpene blend to improve the body's capacity to deal with everyday tension and worry.

While “custom blend” may make you think of THC, our custom blend is composed of extracts from orange, chamomile, hops, and cardamom, all products of nature known to have calming properties to ease your mind and support your mood.

Sweet Dreams

CBD can also help promote a healthy sleep cycle*. Some people have trouble falling asleep and lay awake tossing and turning. Others are able to fall asleep but wake up for no apparent reason, sometimes multiple times per night. Either way, you’ll be starting your day feeling groggy.

Many over-the-counter sleeping pills actually hijack your natural rhythms and can leave you feeling groggy and cloudy the next day, making it hard to concentrate on the world around you. Other people have found that many sleep aids give them bad dreams as well.

Our 100% natural blends are the natural way to defend your sleep. This kind of CBD can help you get your sleep patterns back on track by easing your body and mind to help you prepare for bed, and it’ll have you sleeping like a baby in no time.

Is CBD Safe To Use?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), CBD is not a scheduled substance and is safe to use.

Across every Healist blend, we take great care to ensure our CBD's purity, and specially select our supporting natural active ingredients for their performance and safety

However, if you take any other kinds of medication, you should always check with your doctor first before using CBD because it may negatively interact with how your other medications are processed in your body.

Final Thoughts

Your wellness needs defending, with all the stress, anxiety, and sleepless nights that we go through on a regular basis. It’s time to fight for your right to support your wellness and yourself.

Healist wants to join that fight with you.

Be your body’s best advocate by promoting its natural ability to heal itself and find balance with a little help from broad-spectrum CBD.
