My Case for CBD Over Melatonin

It’s been a rollercoaster of a year, and I’m sure a lot of y’all are experiencing
more anxiety and stress than usual! I’ve been dabbling with CBD tinctures for a
couple of years now, and finally found an awesome brand that I love. I bought
their calm drops back at the beginning of quarantine andHealist Naturals was
nice enough to gift me some additional products a couple weeks ago to try out! I
love that these products come from sustainable and organic farming practices

Hold Up, What is CBD? Is That Legal? Will It Get Me High?
CBD has been super trendy the last few years and a lot of people still seem to be
a bit confused thinking it’s the same as marijuana and will get you “high” or it’s
some sort of naughty illegal substance. There are a lot of resources that explain
the difference, so I won’t try to explain the chemistry of it all, but Healist does
have an awesome article, “CBD Guide for Beginners” and a robust FAQ Page
that are a great start. The basics are: no, CBD from hemp doesn’t get you high
like marijuana and yes, it is legal in all 50 states. Marijuana contains THC (the
psychoactive compound that causes the “high”) plus CBD (the non-psychoactive
compound that has a calming effect). Healist products are from hemp plants and
contain zero THC. No high, yes calm, yes legal.
The Calm Drops have made a major difference in my day to day anxiety. I’ve
been using the regular strength drops which contain 20MG CBD per 1ML on a
regular basis and it helps me feel zen and focused. You just use the dropper to
extract 1ml and place it under your tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing.
You can usually feel the effects in 20-30 minutes and you can evaluate how you
feel to see if you want to take more. They recommend you take it daily around
the same time of day, but I usually use it a few days a week when those feelings
of anxiety are especially rough.
Sleep Drops & Sleep Chews
First off, my sleep has been extremely rough the last month. I’ve been taking melatonin every now and then for years, and while they are pretty successful at
knocking me out, they pretty frequently give me some wild dreams and I wake up
feeling groggy and not well-rested.
After months of using Healist’s Calm Drops, I was really excited to try their Sleep
Drops and Sleep Chews. In addition to CBD, they contain botanical essential oils
like lavender, chamomile, and lemon balm, a sleep terpene blend, valerian root,
and L-Theanine, which are all-natural components that promote relaxation, help
you fall asleep and improve overall sleep quality.
The drops and gummies won’t knock you out cold like melatonin or other sleep aids, but they help me get into a better headspace to fall asleep. The best part is I have been waking up in the middle of the night WAY less frequently and I’m waking up in the morning feeling less groggy and ready to get up and tackle the day. I’m really excited to continue incorporating them into my weekly sleep routine and cut off those wild and stressful melatonin-fueled nightmares. Because who needs extra anxiety these days?
